MilkWorks Parent Information Center

Welcome!  The information in the Parent Information Center (PIC) has been compiled by the Lactation Consultants at MilkWorks to provide basic information about breastfeeding that we feel is appropriate to share with all parents. The PIC is based upon our many years of practice with breastfeeding mothers, as well as the latest research on breastfeeding.

Because breastfeeding is an individualized process for each mother and baby, it is impossible for us to publish information that problem solves individual concerns. We feel individual feeding problems are best dealt with in a personalized clinical consultation. There are many variations and unique factors that must be adequately assessed in order to appropriately diagnose and treat a breastfeeding problem.

If you are a breastfeeding mother and are having a problem feeding your baby and this information does not help you resolve your concerns, we recommend you seek help from a board certified lactation consultant.  You are welcome to contact MilkWorks at 423-6402, or visit our FAQ page for additional information about our consultation services.  If you are unable to travel to MilkWorks and you do not have lactation help in your area, we may be able to provide a phone consultation.

If you are a breastfeeding mother and you have any concerns about the immediate health of yourself or your baby, please consult your physician or seek emergency medical treatment.

A table of contents is provided below. Files are available in PDF format and can be best viewed with Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader.

Thank you.
